TROT for CCL and TPLO Recovery
The other knee. Every CCL owner I’ve talked to has the same fear in week three. This is the page about the daily routine that protects the second knee while the first one heals.

Why the second knee matters
Studies cited by orthopedic vets put the rate of contralateral CCL rupture in the years following the first one at roughly 40 to 60 percent. The opposite leg takes more weight during recovery. It takes more rotation in the early walks. It takes the entire stand up out of bed every morning. The owners who plan for the second knee from week two tend to be the ones who don’t end up in surgery again.
The chew is one floor in that plan. The ramps and the slow walks are others. The links below are where to start.
