How to Build a Daily Joint Routine for Your Dog (That Sticks)
Share
A simple framework for building a daily joint routine that actually sticks.
This is what owners who keep up the routine for 6+ months do.
Step 1: Pick the trigger
The chew has to live next to a thing you already do every morning. Not a thing you want to do. A thing you actually do.
- The coffee maker
- The toothbrush holder
- The dog's food bowl shelf
- The car keys hook
Pick the one. The chew goes there. End of step 1.
Step 2: Stack with food, not separately
Most owners give the chew alongside breakfast. That works because:
- The dog is already engaged with food
- You are already in the kitchen
- Meal-time absorption is generally better for fat-soluble actives like hemp seed oil
If breakfast is inconsistent (some dogs eat at 7am, some at noon), pick the more reliable meal as the trigger.
Step 3: Don't track. Pre-commit.
Skip the spreadsheet. Skip the calendar. Skip the streak app.
The routine is the spreadsheet. If you missed today, the chew is still there tomorrow. The dog does not know.
Step 4: 4-week minimum before judging
Joint routines work on the body's own timeline. Most owners report the first changes between weeks 4 and 6. A few notice nothing for 8 weeks then notice everything in week 9.
Do not change the chew at week 2 because you "don't see anything." That is not how this works.
Step 5: Pair with the home audit
The chew is the inside-the-body part. The home audit is the outside-the-body part. Both compound.
- Ramps for jump-down
- Runners for traction
- Orthopedic bed
- Daily walk pattern (short and frequent beats one long loop)
- Weight management within ±10% of ideal
Step 6: Subscribe and stop thinking about it
The whole point of "daily" is taking the decision out of every day. Subscribe to the chew. Auto-ship at the cadence that matches your dog's size:
- Small dogs: every 4 months (1 chew/day, 120 days/tub)
- Medium dogs: every 2 months (2 chews/day, 60 days/tub)
- Large dogs: every month (4 chews/day, 30 days/tub)
Pause, swap, cancel anytime. The routine is the goal.
